[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said on the 27th, "As the first COVID-19 vaccination in the country is progressing smoothly, I believe the vague fear people had about the vaccine is gradually changing into excitement and anticipation," and added, "To quickly regain our precious daily lives that were taken away, I ask the public to trust the government and actively participate in the vaccination."

On the morning of the same day, Prime Minister Jeong visited the Central Vaccination Center at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, observed the Pfizer vaccine inoculation site, and encouraged medical staff and related personnel. Attendees included Oh Myung-don, head of the Central Vaccination Center; Jeong Ki-hyun, director of the National Medical Center; National Assembly members Moon Jeong-bok and Seo Young-seok; Kang Do-tae, 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare; and Na Sung-woong, deputy director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Prime Minister Jeong received a report on the vaccination progress at the Central Vaccination Center from Ko Im-seok, deputy director of the National Medical Center, and observed the vaccination site. The Pfizer vaccine recipients on that day were sanitation workers responsible for waste disposal in the COVID-19 confirmed patient wards and doctors and nurses working in the COVID-19 intensive care unit.

Prime Minister Jeong said, "With the COVID-19 vaccination that began yesterday, we have taken the first step on the journey toward restoring the daily lives that all citizens long for," and added, "The government will do its best to prepare for vaccination by mobilizing national capabilities so that citizens can receive vaccinations safely and promptly." He further stated, "We will achieve the government's goal of forming herd immunity by November."
