[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] Seoul reported 103 new COVID-19 cases from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 26th, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
This is 9 fewer cases compared to 112 cases during the same time frame on the previous day, the 25th. It is 2 more cases than the 101 cases reported on the 19th, one week earlier. The total daily cases were 132 on the 25th and 123 on the 19th.
The daily new cases in Seoul dropped to 90 on the 8th but surged to 258 on the 16th. Since then, the numbers have fluctuated in the 100s. Among the new cases on this day, 1 was imported from overseas, and the remaining 102 were locally transmitted.
Among cluster infections, 4 new cases were linked to Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Yongsan-gu, and 3 new cases were related to a social gathering in Yongsan-gu. Additionally, 1 new case each was reported in connection with a sauna in Gangdong-gu and kindergartens and daycare centers in Yangcheon-gu. There were 58 new cases from contact with other confirmed patients, 5 from other cluster infections, and 5 from contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces. Cases with unknown infection routes numbered 24.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Seoul reached 28,092 as of 6 p.m. on this day.
