[Asia Economy Reporter Mun Je-won] The Korea Real Estate Board announced on the 26th that Son Tae-rak has taken office as the new president.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Korea Real Estate Board headquarters in Daegu Innovation City on the same day and was conducted via non-face-to-face online live streaming to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The term of office is three years from the date of appointment.
President Son previously served as the head of the Busan Regional Land Management Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, director of the Housing and Land Office, and director of the Land and Urban Office. During his tenure, he focused on land and housing policy tasks as well as land, construction, and urban affairs.
In 2018, he was appointed president of the Seoul-Munsan Expressway and successfully opened the Seoul-Munsan Expressway, a long-awaited project for residents in the northwestern metropolitan area.
At the inauguration ceremony, President Son said, "To further strengthen the status of the Korea Real Estate Board, we will actively seek ways to enhance public trust in official real estate prices and improve the accuracy and timeliness of real estate statistics." He added, "We will improve the official price calculation system by utilizing ICT and GIS technologies and advance the survey and analysis system by expanding the sample size of housing statistics."
He continued, "In preparation for rapidly changing social environments, we will boldly improve the work system and discover new growth engines." He expressed his aspiration, saying, "We will do our best to make the Korea Real Estate Board a reputable real estate specialized institution trusted by the public."
