Gokseong-gun Promotes Public Forest Management to Enhance Resident Convenience

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gokseong-gun (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced on the 26th that it will actively promote the public forest maintenance project to create local jobs and foster sustainable forest resources.

Forest maintenance is a project aimed at enhancing the public nature of forests and cultivating healthy forests.

For the project, Gokseong-gun operates a forest biomass collection team and a forest maintenance patrol. The collection team collects byproducts after forest maintenance and removes vines along major roads.

The forest maintenance patrol removes damaged trees in residential areas adjacent to forests that interfere with residents' daily lives.

Additionally, byproducts generated from the forest maintenance sites are used to provide convenience to residents.

Sawdust is produced and supplied to livestock farms and orchard farms to help increase farm income, and firewood is provided to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone to reduce heating costs.

A county official stated, “We expect the public forest maintenance project to make forest resources more valuable and contribute to creating local jobs.”

He added, “We will prioritize workers' safety and conduct safety education to create a Gokseong free from forest disasters.”
