[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A former teacher at Yonghwa Girls' High School in Seoul, accused of forcibly molesting students, is set to face an appellate court ruling.
According to the legal community on the 26th, both the prosecution and the defense attorney of former Yonghwa Girls' High School teacher Mr. A filed appeals against the first trial verdict at the Seoul Northern District Court on the 23rd and 25th, respectively.
Mr. A is accused of forcibly touching parts of the bodies of five students in classrooms and the student guidance office from March 2011 to September 2012. He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison at the first trial on the 19th of this month and was taken into custody in court.
The case came to light when graduates of Yonghwa Girls' High School exposed allegations of sexual violence by teachers through social networking services (SNS) in early 2018.
