Purpose of Contributing to Social and Economic Development through ESG Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Mirae Asset Daewoo announced on the 26th that it will establish an 'ESG Committee' to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
On the previous day, Mirae Asset Daewoo held a board meeting and resolved the agenda to establish the ESG Committee.
Mirae Asset Daewoo explained, "To fulfill the company's social responsibility, we decided to establish an ESG Committee under the board of directors with the purpose of deliberating and resolving ESG-related agendas at the highest decision-making body and establishing a system to transparently disclose them externally for sustainable corporate management."
Mirae Asset Daewoo plans to strengthen the internalization of ESG management by building a governance system that reviews and approves ESG-related policies.
Mirae Asset Daewoo has previously clearly expressed its commitment to ESG management and has faithfully performed its role as a company fulfilling social responsibility since its founding. Last year, it received the highest grade of 'A' among securities firms in the '2020 ESG Rating' by Sustainalytics, the largest social responsibility investment (SRI) specialized research institution in Korea. Sustainalytics evaluates the ESG management performance of over 1,000 companies and provides advisory services for global social responsibility investment funds, including domestic pension funds, making it a leading research institution in Korea.
Additionally, Mirae Asset Daewoo has been selected for nine consecutive years in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World, which comprehensively considers both financial performance and ESG aspects to select the top 10% of companies. It also received the highest grade of A among domestic securities firms in the 2020 ESG evaluation of listed companies announced by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS), solidifying its position as an industry leader in ESG management performance.
