[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The social contribution platform Happy Alliance and Korea Shokawa Chemical, the Korean branch of Japan's Showa Denko, have signed a business agreement to unite their efforts for activities supporting domestic children at risk of food insecurity.
Korea Shokawa Chemical, starting its first social contribution activities in Korea through Happy Alliance, joined as a new member by donating funds to support reliable meals for children, aiming to contribute to solving social issues in Korea where its business sites are located, under the management philosophy of "fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the international community."
Starting with this, Korea Shokawa Chemical plans to actively participate in Happy Alliance's activities for children who are in blind spots and do not receive sufficient meals, including the donation campaign "Happy Two Meals Challenge" involving companies, local governments, and citizens, the "Happy Box Campaign" which provides daily necessities for children, and employee volunteer work assisting in lunchbox preparation and delivery for children.
Korea Shokawa Chemical is a subsidiary of Showa Denko K.K., a comprehensive chemical manufacturer in Japan, actively conducting business by supplying special gases for semiconductor manufacturing and specialty chemicals to various industries. Emori Mitsuyoshi, CEO of Korea Shokawa Chemical, said, "We joined to actively support because Happy Alliance's values of various stakeholders working together to solve social problems align with ours," adding, "We will fulfill our responsibilities as a member of the international community to help children in Korea, our neighboring country."
Jo Min-young, head of the Happy Alliance Secretariat (Happy Narae), said, "We are pleased to share the same purpose with Korea Shokawa Chemical amid the worsening meal problems for children due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "We will continue sincere activities without borders with various foreign companies for the bright future of children, the leaders of tomorrow."
Happy Alliance is Korea's largest social contribution platform that brings together the capabilities and resources of various stakeholders including companies, citizens, and government to solve social problems. Companies with professional expertise in various fields such as finance, law, and social enterprises, including Korea Shokawa Chemical, are working together to address the issue of children in welfare blind spots.
