[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A new container route connecting Incheon Port and Malaysia has been established.
According to Incheon Port Authority on the 26th, the NCX (North China malaysia eXpress) service, linking Incheon∼China Dalian∼Tianjin∼Qingdao∼Singapore∼Malaysia Port Klang∼China Shenzhen∼Incheon, has started operation.
Five shipping companies will deploy four vessels with a capacity of 2,100 TEU (1 TEU equals one 20-foot container) on this route, operating once a week.
Among them, two companies, X-Press Feeders and Gold Star Line, which previously did not call at Incheon Port, will alternate vessels every five months.
The XPress Kailash, the first vessel deployed for the NCX service, made its inaugural call at Hanjin Incheon Container Terminal in New Port, Incheon, on the 24th.
The NCX service is the second new regular container route opened at Incheon Port this year. With this, the total number of regular container services at Incheon Port has increased to 63, including 10 ferry routes.
Lee Jeonghaeng, Vice President of Operations at Incheon Port Authority, stated, "With the opening of this new route, we will be able to provide stable logistics services to Southeast Asia," and added, "We will actively promote this route to shippers and forwarders to ensure smooth operation."
