Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Completes Final Inspection of Gwangyang Port Health Management Office

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 25th that it conducted a final inspection of the ‘Gwangyang Port Health Management Room,’ which is scheduled to open in March.

The ‘Gwangyang Port Health Management Room,’ established on the 2nd floor of the Gwangyang Port Seafarers Welfare Center by the Authority and the Jeonnam Eastern Workers' Health Center (hereinafter Health Center) under the Ministry of Employment and Labor to manage the health of port workers, is scheduled to open on April 8.

As the first facility of its kind to open at a port nationwide, the Gwangyang Port Health Management Room will focus on health programs such as managing adult diseases like diabetes and hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and trauma psychological counseling for port workers.

On the day, the Authority conducted a final inspection of the space setup, medical equipment, and physical therapy supplies together with Yoon Gan-woo, the director of the Health Center.

Dr. Yoon, a specialist in occupational and environmental medicine, expressed his thoughts, saying, “I am pleased to be responsible for the health management of Gwangyang Port workers starting this year, following last year’s signing of an MOU for port-tailored health services with the Authority and the preparation and distribution of an emergency response manual for port workers.”

He also stated, “I will do my best to serve as the primary physician and dedicated nurse for Gwangyang Port workers who are vulnerable in health management, providing various occupational health services so that workers can work healthily.”

Meanwhile, the medical staff responsible for operating the programs at the Gwangyang Port Health Management Room will consist of specialists in occupational and environmental medicine, family medicine specialists, nurses, physical therapists, psychological counselors, and industrial hygienists.
