Yeosu City Holds Meeting with Factory and Institution Heads to Prevent Safety Accidents at Yeosu National Industrial Complex


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 25th that it held a ‘Yeosu Industrial Complex Factory Managers and Agency Heads Meeting’ in the city hall conference room the previous afternoon to prepare measures to prevent frequent safety accidents at the Yeosu Industrial Complex.


The meeting was attended by about 50 people, including Mayor Kwon Oh-bong, key factory managers of companies located in the Yeosu Industrial Complex, heads of related organizations, and public officials, sharing safety management plans for the Yeosu National Industrial Complex in response to the recent frequent accidents.


The head of the Yeosu branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor explained the key points of the 「Serious Accident Punishment Act」 to the factory managers and urged safety, while the Jeonnam Eastern Branch of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation explained measures to secure high-pressure gas safety at the Yeosu Industrial Complex, repeatedly emphasizing safety.


Mayor Kwon emphasized at the end of the meeting, “Efforts to secure trust in the environment and safety of the Yeosu Industrial Complex are not a waste of cost but an investment,” and explained, “In line with this, our city is also carrying out various activities such as establishing the Yeosu Petrochemical Safety Experience Education Center, building an integrated safety system for the Yeosu Industrial Complex, and establishing a public-private cooperation governance.”


Before the meeting, there was also a time to commend four excellent safety management companies and nine meritorious persons selected last year.


This year, Hanwha Solutions Co., Ltd., Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Deokyang Energen Co., Ltd., and SPG Hydrogen Co., Ltd. were honored with awards.


A city official said, “We will actively take the lead in creating a safe Yeosu by establishing a close cooperative system with the Yeosu Industrial Complex and related organizations.”
