Expansion of AI Medical Support Platform for Hospitals and Clinics in Participating Regions
Establishment of the Nation's Largest Elderly AI Healthcare Demonstration Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City has officially launched the establishment of an AI Health Care Demonstration Center for artificial intelligence health centers and health management such as basic checkups and rehabilitation for the elderly.
On the 25th, Gwangju City, the AI Industry Convergence Project Group, Gwangju TP, GITCT, Gwangju Welfare Research Institute, and five autonomous district health centers signed a business agreement to successfully promote the "Citizen-Experienced AI Public Medical Service Construction" project and formed and activated a working council.
This project is the first in the nation to link the regional public health medical information system (PHIS), X-ray equipment, and AI medical support platform within the five health centers of all autonomous districts in Gwangju City. It will be built to enable chest X-ray AI reading to reduce time, improve image reading accuracy, and allow online collaboration with other hospitals.
Citizens visiting health centers will receive the citizen medical app through consent to provide personal information and data, allowing them to check medical imaging information, diagnosis and prescription information, and examination information all in one place, providing a self-directed health management environment.
Starting from April, based on the AI health centers, 95 hospitals and clinics that wish to participate will be selected through a recruitment announcement targeting about 2,200 local hospitals and clinics, and the AI medical support platform will be distributed. From next year, it plans to secure national funding and expand to all local hospitals and clinics.
In addition, the largest AI healthcare demonstration center in Korea for elderly basic checkups and rehabilitation health management will be established at Bitgoeul Senior Health Town in Nam-gu, providing a full-scale elderly health management environment starting in July.
Through this project, personal, hospital/clinic, and healthcare demonstration data collected with individual consent will be linked to the Gwangju AI Convergence Complex Data Center for storage, processing, and de-identification preprocessing, and used for AI training dataset development and customized AI product development for companies.
On this day, the business agreement was made to define necessary matters such as mutual cooperation and policy support among the agreement institutions for the success and smooth promotion of the project, and a working council was launched simultaneously for rapid progress.
The cooperation contents include ▲matters related to overall project promotion such as data collection, investigation, analysis, system construction, and post-management for the project ▲matters related to citizen AI data provision and participation campaigns, data collection, storage, and processing for individuals, hospitals, and clinics ▲matters related to AI company fostering such as AI training dataset development, startup support, and investment fund creation ▲matters related to AI industry ecosystem creation such as discovering new AI businesses, creating new markets, and attracting companies.
Jo In-cheol, Deputy Mayor of Culture and Economy, said, "Last year was the inaugural year for realizing Gwangju as an AI-centered city, focusing on infrastructure such as the start of the Gwangju AI Convergence Complex Data Center. This year, we plan to actively promote AI services that citizens can directly experience." He added, "As the AI public medical service construction project to be promoted through today's business agreement is the first citizen-experienced AI project, I ask all heads of the agreement institutions and working council members to exert all their capabilities until the project is completed."
