[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 25th that three public daycare centers will open in the Oryong district of Illo-eup on the 2nd of next month.

The public daycare centers are located in the Prugio 1st and 2nd apartment complexes and the Hoban Summit 3rd apartment complex, with a total of 201 infants and toddlers enrolled.

The entrance ceremony and preliminary orientation will be conducted via video conference using the non-face-to-face app Zoom to prevent COVID-19.

Currently, all daycare centers in the jurisdiction are closed, so home care is being implemented as much as possible, and emergency childcare is provided at daycare centers only when unavoidable. On the day of the entrance ceremony, parents and outsiders are advised to refrain from accompanying children to the center.

The county has been carrying out preliminary procedures such as signing facility use contracts between project entities, selecting operators, and remodeling construction since last year to establish public daycare centers in the Oryong district. Preparations for opening, including recruiting children and purchasing equipment, were completed in January of this year.

Additionally, using its own funds, the county conducted inspections of children's activity spaces to measure indoor air quality so that children can live in a healthy and comfortable environment, and supported the purchase of teaching materials and equipment necessary for childcare.

With the opening of these daycare centers, the proportion of public daycare centers in the jurisdiction has nearly doubled from 5.6% to 10.5%, and the daycare usage rate is expected to increase from 8.4% to 19.5%.

Governor Kim San said, “We plan to continuously expand public daycare centers so that parents can trust and entrust their children, and we will create a happy Muan-gun for parents and children by establishing a stable childcare environment.”

Meanwhile, Muan-gun plans to open two additional public daycare centers by 2022 to provide high-quality childcare services.
