[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Jill Biden, wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, mentions her experience with divorce.
On the 25th (local time), Biden appeared on NBC's "The Kelly Clarkson Show" to give advice about divorce to Clarkson, according to AP News. Clarkson, the talk show host and pop star, went through a breakup last June after seven years of marriage to her husband Brandon Blackstock.
In the released preview of the show, Biden told Clarkson, who is going through a divorce, "If I were your mother, I would tell you that everything will be okay." Given that allegations of an affair involving the Biden couple surfaced during last year's presidential election, Jill Biden's mention of divorce draws attention.
Biden's ex-husband Bill Stevenson claimed that the presidential couple met through an affair. When President Biden first ran for Delaware senator in 1972, Stevenson said that his then-wife Jill worked on Biden's campaign, and he stated that the relationship between the presidential couple began during that time.
Biden told Clarkson, "If I hadn't divorced, I wouldn't have met Joe, and I wouldn't have this beautiful family now," adding, "Everything leads to the best direction." She comforted Clarkson by saying, "I don't know when, but you will have the same realization and be surprised," and "I hope that time comes soon."
