[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina Cho] Discount on communication fees? Installments for 48 months? Unused additional services?
On the 25th, the Korea Communications Commission launched the campaign "Mobile Communication Tips, Know This Before You Go!" to inform mobile communication users of essential information when signing up for and using services, and released the video titled "Mobile Phone Subscription Application Form."
The "Mobile Phone Subscription Application Form" video introduces seven important points that must be checked before signing the mobile phone subscription application form, including the difference between official subsidies and fee discounts, recommended rate plan websites, ways to save on SIM card fees, and the meaning of contracts and discounts.
The video reconstructs complaint cases where users found it difficult to seek remedies after realizing late that they had signed up without properly checking excessive installment periods and unfair additional service subscriptions. Most notably, a national policy reporter appears directly to explain the content clearly through role-play and Q&A.
This campaign was planned as part of the series "Resolving Each Public Inconvenience!" which aims to explain broadcasting and communication policies and services that are closely related to daily life and helpful but often perceived as difficult to understand.
The goal is to produce and spread easy-to-understand video content containing useful information that everyone uses but may not know precisely when signing up for and using mobile communication services, thereby preventing user damages. The Korea Communications Commission reflects public questions received via comments on SNS channels such as YouTube and Facebook in the content production to help the public clearly resolve their actual concerns.
Chairman Sang-hyuk Han stated, “Among the Korea Communications Commission policies closely related to public life, we will actively promote easy-to-understand information so that difficult content or poorly known policies are not left unutilized in daily life, thereby resolving public inconveniences.”
In addition to the video introduced this time, the Korea Communications Commission plans to produce and release five more videos on topics including ▲billing statements, ▲contract cancellation fees, ▲mobile phone fraud sales tactics, ▲fee discount benefits, and ▲damage relief procedures through various content on SNS channels such as YouTube.
