The Second 'Regional Balanced New Deal Tour,' a Core of the Korean New Deal... Visiting Bujeon Station, a Key Point of the Southeast Metropolitan Railroad
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in visited Busan Bujeon Station on the 25th to support the movement to form a Southeast region living and administrative community.
This visit was the second step in the regional balanced New Deal tour, a core part of the Korean New Deal. Earlier, on the 5th, President Moon visited Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, to participate in the investment agreement ceremony for the world's largest offshore wind farm project worth 48 trillion won.
The Southeast Mega City, where Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam are joining forces, is a project to build an economic, living, cultural, and administrative community of 8 million people through ultra-wide-area coexistence and cooperation.
The Blue House stated, "We will lead the regional balanced New Deal through ultra-wide-area coexistence and expect a significant increase in the Southeast region's population and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2040, rising as one of Northeast Asia's top eight economic zones as a tri-port logistics platform.
The eight major economic zones in Northeast Asia include Seoul (Capital Area) in Korea; Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Southeast region) in Korea; Beijing (Huan Bohai), Shanghai (Yangtze River), and Hong Kong (Zhujiang) in China; and Osaka (Kinki), Nagoya (Chubu), and Tokyo (Kanto) in Japan.
At the Bujeon Station platform, President Moon listened to Ulsan Mayor Song Cheol-ho's presentation on plans to create a living community based on the 'Southeast region wide-area transportation network construction' and the administrative community formation plan called the 'Southeast region wide-area special union.' Bujeon Station is significant as a key hub of the Southeast region wide-area railway, a core infrastructure of the Southeast Mega City.
