[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] It is expected that airline tickets for Korean Air can be purchased through Naver Pay in the future.


Korean Air and Naver recently held a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony at Naver Green Factory, attended by Korean Air CEO Woo Ki-hong and Naver CEO Han Seong-sook, along with other officials from both companies, the 25th announced.


The two companies explained that this MOU signing is the result of their shared interest in "maximizing customer experience and value." They decided based on the conviction that combining Korean Air's information and know-how on airline services with Naver's digital capabilities and artificial intelligence technology can revolutionize airline services.


Starting with this MOU, they plan to continuously improve user experience (UX) directly and indirectly related to airline services, creating a synergy effect that enhances customer value through improved convenience.


Korean Air plans to use the Naver platform to simplify the entire airline service flow, including ticket issuance, check-in, and boarding. Additionally, customers will be able to log in to Korean Air’s website and app using their Naver ID and pay for tickets with Naver Pay, maximizing customer convenience.


Naver will analyze consumer demand and behavior based on Korean Air’s professional and diverse airline service data, and combine it with its own technological capabilities to further expand the scope of related business applications. Naver’s various services will also be organically integrated with Korean Air’s services.


Furthermore, they will continue discussions to devise ways to enhance customer satisfaction through linking Korean Air Skypass mileage with Naver Plus Membership, among other initiatives.


Woo Ki-hong, CEO of Korean Air, said, “If we utilize Naver’s platform, content, and new technologies to enhance Korean Air’s airline services, we can significantly increase customer value.” He added, “Through this cooperation with Naver, we plan to create new business models in response to the rapidly changing trends in the airline industry.”


Han Seong-sook, CEO of Naver, also stated, “Naver and Korean Air share the goal of ‘enhancing user experience’ and will continuously explore cooperation opportunities across various fields.” She mentioned, “Based on Naver’s technological and service capabilities, we will add more ‘smartness’ to the airline service sector and simultaneously advance the overall sophistication of Naver’s services.”
