IBK, 'Mobile Electronic Notification' Service... Messenger and Text Alerts Instead of Mail

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 25th that it will implement a 'mobile electronic notification' service that sends guidance and notification documents, previously mailed to individuals and sole proprietors, via KakaoTalk and text messages.

The bank stated that this service improves issues such as loss and misdelivery associated with mailed notifications and reduces the risk of personal information leakage by allowing access only through the mobile phone registered under the recipient's name. Notifications are automatically sent via KakaoTalk without a separate application, and if not received within 24 hours, they are resent via text message and mail to minimize missed deliveries.

The service will initially cover loan due date notifications and retirement pension subscriber educational materials, with plans to gradually expand the scope.

IBK Industrial Bank has been pursuing a paper reduction policy for 10 years. By introducing electronic slips, electronic documents, and implementing non-face-to-face term extensions, it has saved approximately 42 million sheets of paper annually. A bank official stated, “With the introduction of this service, it is expected that 5.6 million pieces of mail will be reduced annually,” adding, “We will continue to practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management through digital transformation.”
