[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] On the 25th, Jang Seok-young, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will ensure that the convergence ecosystem market, the core axis of the Digital New Deal, can lead the world."
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, Vice Minister Jang visited the Digital Healthcare Security Living Lab located in Wonju Medical Device Technovalley in the afternoon of the same day, and shared information security enhancement measures and listened to field voices with medical device industry associations and organizations such as Wonju Medical Device Technovalley, Korea Medical Device Industry Association, Korea Digital Health Industry Association, and Smart Medical Security Forum.
This 24th Digital New Deal field communication visit was arranged to exchange opinions with medical device associations and organizations to protect the information security of digital healthcare devices connected to the network (N) and to seek the success and development of the Digital New Deal.
The Digital Healthcare Security Living Lab is a facility established to test the security of digital healthcare devices and services and respond to security threats, which opened on December 18 last year. Currently, it operates in five locations nationwide targeting five 5G+ convergence services: ▲Digital Healthcare (Wonju Medical Device Technovalley) ▲Smart Factory (Ansan Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center) ▲Autonomous Vehicles (Gunsan Automotive Convergence Technology Institute) ▲Immersive Content (Anyang Digital Content Enterprise Growth Support Center) ▲Smart City (Busan Centum Technology Startup Town). It provides a testing space that identifies the protected assets of each convergence service, analyzes security vulnerabilities, and devises protection technologies and countermeasures to respond to new security threats.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety also participated in the visit to share trends in cybersecurity systems and guidelines applied to digital healthcare medical devices and to explore ways to strengthen convergence security support using the Security Living Lab. During the open discussion, opinions from medical device industry associations and organizations on strengthening digital healthcare information security were presented, and cooperation plans with the medical industry were discussed.
Vice Minister Jang said, “Last year, through the amendment of the Information and Communications Network Act, institutional measures were established to prevent threats that may occur in convergence services. We have built the Security Living Lab to strengthen convergence security in fields such as manufacturing, medical, transportation, and urban sectors, and it has been fully operational since this year.” He added, “We will make this year the first year of creating a 5G+ convergence ecosystem, firmly securing information protection to accelerate convergence across all industries, and do our best to ensure that the convergence ecosystem market, the core axis of the Digital New Deal, can lead the world.”
Additionally, he visited the Gangwon Regional Post Office of the Korea Post, Wonju Post Office, and Hoengseong Post Office in sequence to check the response system to the COVID-19 situation and urged, "Please comply with quarantine guidelines and strive to provide postal services loved by the public."
