[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] With the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, the first to be supplied domestically, starting to be administered from the 26th, Minister Jeon Hae-cheol of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety visited Bucheon Municipal Geriatric Hospital (nursing hospital) on the morning of the 25th to conduct a preliminary inspection of the vaccine administration progress.

On this day, Minister Jeon visited the vaccination site set up at the outpatient clinic on the first floor of the hospital to check the vaccination procedures and process. He also inspected security issues such as emergency power devices, designated managers, and closed-circuit (CC) TV related to the safe storage of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine in the vaccine refrigeration storage room prepared in the vaccination room.

Minister Jeon Hae-cheol stated, “As the meaningful first vaccination targeting 750,000 people nationwide, including inpatients, residents, and workers under 65 years old, begins on the 26th to ensure public safety, vaccine administration at nursing hospitals such as Bucheon Municipal Geriatric Hospital and public health centers will play an important role as a standard model for future vaccinations.” He emphasized, “It is extremely important that medical workers such as doctors and nurses working on the front lines of quarantine safely receive the vaccine, and that responses and follow-up measures according to the manual in case of adverse reactions provide the public with safety and trust in the vaccine.”

Minister Jeon then gathered field difficulties and suggestions related to vaccination and encouraged officials from Gyeonggi Province, Bucheon City, and the hospital. He said, “Local governments need to manage vaccination thoroughly to prevent any confusion, and nursing hospitals and nursing facilities must continuously monitor vaccine recipients after vaccination and record and manage all vaccination processes without omission to transparently disclose them to the public.” He added, “We will strive to actively support any necessary matters or difficulties of local governments and vaccination institutions.”
