Pocheon City Welcomes 'Provincial Public Institution Relocation Plan'... Enters Hosting Competition

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province recently welcomed the 'Relocation Plan for 7 Public Institutions under Gyeonggi Province' announced by Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung.

On the 24th, Park Yoon-guk, Mayor of Pocheon, expressed his welcome at the 'Public Institution Relocation Welcome Briefing' held in the city’s main conference room, stating, "With the decision to relocate public institutions promoted by Gyeonggi Province, Pocheon City has recently been filled with vitality and anticipation."

He further emphasized, "Pocheon City actively welcomes the decision to relocate the 7 public institutions, as it is a bold decision that puts into practice Gyeonggi Province’s principle of 'special compensation for special sacrifices.'"

About 50 people attended the briefing event, including Son Se-hwa, Chairperson of the Pocheon City Council, city council members, local organizations, and representatives of residents.

Meanwhile, the institutions subject to relocation are the Gyeonggi Research Institute, Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, Gyeonggi Agriculture and Fisheries Promotion Agency, Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and Gyeonggi Women and Family Foundation, totaling seven institutions.

Gyeonggi Province will select the relocation site through a public contest in April, targeting 17 cities and counties in the northern and eastern parts of Gyeonggi Province.

A Pocheon City official stated, "We plan to set strategic directions and make every effort to attract public institutions according to the contest schedule."
