Yoo Young-min: "No wording on speed control from President Moon, but expressed that meaning" (Update)

President Moon delivers message to ruling party on adjusting pace of prosecution reform... Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader, questions "Did he really use the term 'adjusting pace'?"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Yoo Young-min, Chief Secretary to the Blue House, appeared before the National Assembly's Steering Committee on the afternoon of the 24th and revealed that President Moon Jae-in asked Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye to adjust the pace regarding prosecutorial reform. However, Yoo clarified that President Moon did not use the wording "adjust the pace" but expressed a meaning along those lines.

Yoo said, "The request to adjust the pace was made on the day Minister Park came to the Blue House to receive his appointment letter. I believe the Democratic Party is doing well in adjusting the pace." Yoo added, "The fact is, on the day the appointment letter was given to Minister Park, I had a cup of tea with President Moon and he made the request then."

After Yoo's remarks, Kim Tae-nyeon, the chairman of the National Assembly Steering Committee and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out, "The President did not say to adjust the pace. (Yoo's statement) causes misunderstanding," and Yoo responded, "I do not remember the exact wording, but that was the meaning."

When Floor Leader Kim questioned again, "It can be misunderstood that the President used that wording," Yoo explained, "The exact wording was not like that, but it was an expression with that meaning."
