[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will support the installation costs of emission reduction devices for about 2,000 old diesel vehicles.
According to the city on the 24th, the support targets are owners of diesel vehicles registered in Daejeon with a vehicle emission grade of 5. The application period is from the 26th of this month to the 10th of next month. The city plans to invest 8.3 billion KRW in the installation cost support.
Priority will be given to vehicles that frequently enter the metropolitan area, livelihood vehicles, and the latest model year vehicles. Vehicles that have already completed low-emission measures to postpone enforcement must reapply during the emission reduction device support application period.
Vehicle owners who wish to participate in the support project must apply for low-emission measures directly on the vehicle emission grading system website. After being selected, they will be guided by the Korea Automobile Environment Association to an appropriate device manufacturer to sign an installation contract, and can install the device by paying between 280,000 KRW and 650,000 KRW.
For more detailed information, please refer to the announcement posted on the city’s official website.
A city official stated, “The support project is being promoted to reduce emissions from diesel vehicles, which are identified as a major cause of fine dust and air pollution,” and added, “We hope for active participation from owners of old diesel vehicles.”
