Selection of 75 University Students, Up to 2 Million KRW Per Person
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 24th that it will select scholarship students who are children of workers to ease the educational expenses burden of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) workers.
The scholarship will be awarded to 75 university student children of SME workers in the province, with up to 2 million KRW per person.
The selection targets are university student children of workers who have been working at SMEs in the province for more than six months or are receiving employment insurance unemployment benefits.
Starting this year, the scholarship support target has been adjusted to university students, which is expected to provide greater assistance to worker families with university student children.
The province plans to select scholarship students based on recommendations from mayors and county heads, considering criteria such as workers with low average monthly income, unemployed workers, and long-term employees, and plans to provide scholarships in the first half of the year.
Applications for the scholarship can be submitted in person or by mail to the relevant department of the city or county office where the worker's workplace is located from March 2 to 31.
Meanwhile, since 1995 until last year, the province has provided a total of 3.369 billion KRW in the 'Gyeongsangnam-do SME Worker Children Scholarship' to 2,787 recipients.
