[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Confectionery introduced a new chocolate snack product, 'Binz Cafe Mocha,' on the 24th.
This product features the flavor of cafe mocha by using coffee and cinnamon scents in the snack. One side of the snack is coated with sweet and slightly bitter chocolate, creating a harmonious taste that pairs well with coffee.
'Binz Cafe Mocha' is an extension product released 10 years after 'Binz Rye Whole Wheat Flavor.' 'Binz' was launched in 2000 and is a representative popular chocolate snack, ranking just after Pepero with annual sales of about 30 billion KRW.
Last year, 'Binz' sales exceeded 33 billion KRW, showing about a 15% increase compared to the previous year. This is analyzed to be due to the rise of home cafe enthusiasts enjoying coffee at home amid COVID-19, increasing demand for 'Binz,' which pairs well with coffee. In line with this trend, Lotte Confectionery developed a product that captures the sweet cafe mocha flavor, expanding its home cafe dessert lineup.
'Binz Cafe Mocha' differentiates itself by using green as the main color on the package, and the recommended retail price remains the same at 2,400 KRW per unit. In pre-consumer surveys, 'Binz Cafe Mocha' received higher ratings than the original Binz in all categories including taste, purchase intention, and texture.
Lotte Confectionery plans to promote 'Binz Cafe Mocha' through various marketing activities to commemorate the product launch.
