"Korean University Students Are Stirring" Gyeongnam Jeongbo University Opens First Door to U.S. Employment Since Establishment Last year, K-MOVE employment trainees from Gyeongnam Information College departing for overseas training.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] “We were the first to open the door to employment in the United States.”

On the day they departed for the United States, bright smiles blossomed on the faces of the university students at the airport.

Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) announced that all participating trainees recently departed after obtaining J1 visas for the United States through the ‘U.S. Automotive Parts Production Specialist Training Course.’

Holders of the J1 visa can work as interns in local company training programs for one year. Seven out of ten students departed last week, and three are currently awaiting departure.

The students work as quality controllers or machine maintenance personnel at automotive parts manufacturers in California, Alabama (an automotive parts specialized region), and the state of Georgia.

After the internship program ends, they plan to apply for the E2 employee visa to continue working, effectively securing employment at U.S. workplaces.

Professor Jeong Jae-ho of the Mechanical Department, the lead professor of Gyeongnam Information University’s ‘K-Move School,’ expressed joy, saying, “While employment in Asian countries such as Singapore and Japan has continued, this is the first time since the university’s founding that employment in the United States has been achieved.”

He also said, “There is ongoing demand for personnel from partner companies of Hyundai Motor’s Alabama plant and Kia Motors’ Georgia plant in the U.S., which means continuous employment opportunities in the U.S. can proceed, making this very meaningful.”

The K-Move School, an overseas employment training project, provides educational courses required by overseas industrial sites to university graduates who wish to work abroad, matches them with excellent overseas companies, and connects them to employment.
