[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will invest a budget of 318.2 billion KRW to expand urban infrastructure.
The city announced on the 24th that it will expand urban infrastructure this year through the promotion of public construction and architectural projects. The projects are categorized into 14 completions, 16 new projects, and 14 ongoing projects this year.
First, in the first half of the year, the Hyeonchungwon Station transfer parking lot (4.9 billion KRW) and Samsung 119 Safety Center (3.9 billion KRW) will be completed next month, followed by the expansion of the Daejeon Station East-West Bridge area (9.5 billion KRW) in May, the opening of the wide-area road connecting Sedo in Yuseong-gu and Gyeryong Sindoan (9.1 billion KRW) in June, and the Hongdo Underpass (97.1 billion KRW) sequentially.
Next, in the second half of the year, the city will complete six projects including the construction of the west entrance road to the Daejeon Industrial Complex (45 billion KRW), construction of an urban-type industrial support platform (21.9 billion KRW), creation of urban wind path forests (20 billion KRW), and the development of the Daeja District plaza and parking lot (12.3 billion KRW).
New projects starting in the first half of this year include the construction of a youth startup rental factory within the Daejeon Industrial Complex (7.1 billion KRW), construction of a smart parking lot and complex cultural center (13.2 billion KRW), and the creation of the Daejeon~Sejong BRT transfer center around Guam Station (4.4 billion KRW).
Earlier last month, construction began on the support center within the pet park (4.5 billion KRW), and the Madalryeong ecological passage project (4.9 billion KRW) also started construction on the 22nd.
In the second half of the year, construction will begin on the Gyochon Daejeong-ro alignment improvement project (7.1 billion KRW), the Yongsugol~Namganjeongsa road opening project (19.8 billion KRW), and the road opening project around Yongun Jugong 2 Complex (15 billion KRW).
The city plans to proceed without delay on 14 ongoing projects under mid- to long-term plans. In particular, six projects including the construction of the Daejeon International Exhibition and Convention Center (109.3 billion KRW), creation of the pet park (17.2 billion KRW), construction of an open-type storage facility at the municipal art museum (11.8 billion KRW), and connection of the new and old underground shopping malls on Jungang-ro (13.1 billion KRW) are expected to contribute to the development of urban infrastructure with a focus on completion in the first half of next year.
Additionally, the city plans to invest 9.2 billion KRW this year in road maintenance such as road resurfacing, and 23.8 billion KRW in the maintenance and management of road facilities including safety inspections, repairs, and reinforcements of aging underpasses and bridges to ensure citizens can use the facilities safely.
Kim Gahwan, head of the city’s Construction Management Headquarters, said, “We will strive to ensure that the planned projects are completed without delay through solid construction and thorough process management,” adding, “Above all, the Construction Management Headquarters will devote itself this year to driving vitality in the local construction economy and realizing safe living for citizens.”
