Stay-at-Home Moms Tired of Parenting... IPTV Strengthens English Playground Content

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT is revamping the English content of Olleh TV Kidsland to focus on 'play' in order to attract housewives tired of home-based childcare.

On the 24th, KT announced that it has significantly strengthened the English content section of Olleh TV Kidsland to emphasize play rather than learning. They also introduced a new catchphrase: "If you think of your child, an English playground to learn through play."

As home-based childcare has increased, the demand for play-based content instead of rigid English study has grown. According to KT's 2020 Olleh TV Kidsland usage statistics, the content with the largest increase in usage compared to the previous year was English-related content. In particular, the use of English play content featuring characters in the second half of the year increased by 131% compared to the first half.

KT is reorganizing the dedicated English content section within Kidsland where children can learn while playing. First, the most popular characters over the past three months?'Cocomelon,' 'Badanamu,' and 'LEGO' content?have been placed prominently in the 'Character English Play Zone.' The 'English Listening Zone,' which includes 'Scholastic,' an English textbook adopted by over 80% of U.S. public schools, and the 'English Library,' which features world-renowned award-winning picture books such as 'Caldecott,' have also been enhanced.

In addition to English, new content such as reading and homeschooling will be introduced. 'LEGO Duplo Songs,' which allows children to enjoy a medley of 21 popular nursery rhymes loved worldwide and original English songs, and over 50 Kidsland storybooks produced with Dr. Eun-young Oh will be released next month. A total of 1,000 homeschooling contents, including 'Smart Red Pen' for lower-grade students and the children's complete collection brand 'Allstory,' will be provided sequentially.

Olleh TV Kidsland is an exclusive IPTV service for preschool children aged 3 to 9 and lower-grade elementary students, offering about 60,000 pieces of content related to early childhood education. By the end of last year, cumulative users exceeded 5.6 million, and subscribers to the unlimited plan 'TV Prime Kidsland' surpassed 40,000 within four months of its launch.

Meanwhile, KT has also launched the Kidsland Experience Group 'Working Mom Dad TF,' consisting of about 160 employees raising preschool children. They receive monthly feedback from the perspective of working moms and dads who use Kidsland with their children.
