[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Choyoung] Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeok criticized on the 23rd that the concurrent appointment of Im Eun-jeong, the Inspection Policy Research Officer of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in the mid-level prosecutor personnel reshuffle on the 22nd was a "defamation of justice."

On the same day, former lawmaker Jeon pointed out on her Facebook, addressing Im, who gained investigative authority, "She received 'special treatment' under the Moon Jae-in administration. By betraying and attacking the prosecution, she has been thriving." She continued, "They even created a new position called the Inspection Policy Research Officer at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office for her, and she obtained investigative authority called 'mountaineering boots' by herself, while others have 'reckless swords,'" criticizing her.

Earlier, on the 22nd, Im expressed on her Facebook, "It is still a tough mountain to climb, but having a pair of mountaineering boots feels reassuring," and shared her thoughts, "I have finally been granted investigative authority with great difficulty."

Former lawmaker Jeon also said, "Everything about her is a one-point, pinpoint appointment," and added, "But Im Eun-jeong's investigative authority is like Han Myeong-sook's Bible."

Previously, former Prime Minister Han was sentenced to two years in prison by the Supreme Court in August 2015. However, a memorandum revealing that Han Man-ho, CEO of Hanshin Construction, who claimed to have given illegal political funds of 900 million won to Han, made false statements under coercive investigation by the prosecution was disclosed in May last year, raising calls mainly from the ruling party to investigate allegations of perjury coaching by the investigation team in Han's case.

Former lawmaker Jeon argued, "Why are they going all-in on Im Eun-jeong, even giving her investigative authority, to 'make Han Myeong-sook innocent'?" and said, "Because it is a disgrace to them that Han Myeong-sook, known as the matriarch of the left, served a prison sentence as a bribery prime minister."

She also added, "On the other hand, she blatantly shows the 'self-portrait of the left obsessed with money,'" and said, "But Im Eun-jeong's investigative authority will end up exactly like Han Myeong-sook's Bible." Furthermore, she fiercely condemned it as "blasphemy and defamation of justice."
