Gangnam-gu to Recruit 50 Busking Performance Teams for Lunar New Year Stages

Gangnam-gu to Recruit 50 Busking Performance Teams for Lunar New Year Stages

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu District Office (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) is recruiting 50 performance teams to hold the 'Happiness Concert' throughout the year in Gangnam until March 3.

This concert is an online and offline performance for residents to enjoy culture and arts.

The district planned this project to comfort exhausted residents by supporting artists, whose activities have been greatly restricted, to engage in various creative activities.

Performance teams wishing to participate can download the application form from the Gangnam-gu District Office website and submit it via email to the person in charge (lnh1004@gangnam.go.kr).

The recruitment targets are four fields: popular music, pure music, traditional music, and performance.

Starting in May, on-site and online performances will be held simultaneously at major commercial areas such as Garosugil, COEX, Rodeo Street, as well as at Yangjaecheon Stream, Dosan Park, and welfare facilities.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak intensified last year, the district has increased non-face-to-face online performances, with a total of 23 teams presenting 30 performances. This year, a 'customized concert' will be conducted by conducting resident surveys before each performance to select the performance method and location.

Kim Ha-sung, Director of the Culture and Sports Division, said, "We plan to present a 'customized concert by residents, for residents' that comes closer to the daily lives of residents," adding, "We hope that this Gangnam-style Happiness Concert, as an 'Ontact Leader,' will provide some comfort to the residents."
