Dongjak-gu Provides One-Stop Customized Family Life Design Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is promoting the ‘2021 Family Life Cycle Planning Service,’ which enhances accessibility to welfare information by life cycle and provides customized welfare services.

Since 2019, the district has systematically integrated and updated extensive welfare data and started the family life cycle planning service nationwide for the first time, supporting families directly from planning to guidance and application in a one-stop manner.

In particular, last year, the district connected welfare services for 2,178 households and 2,137 cases within the region, providing Dongjak-gu’s unique specialized family life cycle services.

First, the district provides family life cycle welfare planner training to about 100 local welfare planners to cultivate welfare counseling experts capable of comprehensive consultation.

The trained family life cycle welfare planners visit families who applied for the service to identify the major needs of all family members by life cycle stage and guide them to available services.

During visits, they use tablet PCs and portable printers to conduct welfare service consultations and simultaneously handle service applications, detailed information, and service agency guidance, including printing.

Residents who wish to apply for the service can do so via phone or by visiting the local community service center, through visiting nurses or welfare planners.

Additionally, the district conducts ‘Welfare Screening for Visitors at Community Service Centers,’ linking welfare planners to residents who visit the centers to handle various civil complaints such as moving in, birth, and death, providing diverse welfare counseling services.

If the complainant agrees to welfare counseling, after confirming eligibility, the case is assigned to a welfare planner who conducts everything from simple welfare counseling to complex welfare counseling based on household conditions, discovering vulnerable households and establishing a social safety net.

Mi-young Park, Director of Welfare Policy, said, “Through this project, we will provide public welfare services necessary for daily life such as childcare, housing, and jobs to residents of all ages and classes, from infants to youth and seniors,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to promote welfare projects by life cycle so that all residents are respected and not marginalized.”
