Gochujang and Seasoned Sauces Also See Price Hikes... Dining Table Prices Rising One After Another

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] As raw material prices continue to rise, food prices are increasing one after another, and the prices of jang products such as gochujang and seasoning sauces are also going up.

According to the food industry on the 23rd, CJ CheilJedang recently raised the prices of five types of 'Haechandle' gochujang by an average of 9%. This is the first time in about two years since February 2019 that CJ CheilJedang has increased the price of Haechandle products.

CJ CheilJedang also raised the prices of four types of 'Baeksul' brand seasoning sauces by an average of 6%. These products include beef bulgogi seasoning sauce, beef rib seasoning sauce, pork bulgogi seasoning sauce, and pork rib seasoning sauce.

Daesang will raise the prices of 'Chung Jung One' brand gochujang products by an average of 7% starting next month on the 1st. This is two years since some prices of Chung Jung One gochujang products were last increased in 2019. A Daesang official said, "This is due to the rise in production costs such as raw materials."

The prices of pears, apples, and red pepper powder used in jang products have soared to two to three times the average price compared to previous years due to last year's record-long rainy season and other factors.
