Launch of Sports Industry Comprehensive Support Center "Fostering National Representative Sports Companies"


The Sports Industry Comprehensive Support Center took its first step on the 23rd. It is an institution established by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation to nurture national representative sports companies. It provides legal and labor services, office and exhibition spaces, and COVID-19 support consultations for sports companies. It is divided into a corporate support center and an exhibition experience center, located in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.


At the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation Chairman Jo Hyun-jae, Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su, and representatives of resident companies attended. Minister Hwang promised, "The Sports Industry Comprehensive Support Center, opened during the difficult times of COVID-19, will create new opportunities for advancement together with sports companies." He added, "Just as we fully support and nurture national athletes at the Jincheon National Training Center, we plan to nurture national representative sports companies," and said, "We will do our best to make Korea a powerhouse in the sports industry."

The Sports Industry Comprehensive Support Center was built with approximately 443 pyeong (about 1,463 square meters) over three floors above ground. It plans to provide free office space for up to two years to twenty sports companies and offer various linked programs such as support for attracting investment from sports funds.


The exhibition experience center is about 316 pyeong (about 1,045 square meters) on the first floor above ground. It is designed to allow visitors to see and experience various products and services from about thirty sports companies selected for the Sports Industry Awards and Excellent Sports Companies. The corporate support center performs the overall function of fostering the sports industry by linking with seven sports startup support centers, three regional convergence sports industry hubs, and one sports industry support center.

Meanwhile, after the opening ceremony, Minister Hwang held a meeting to listen to the difficulties and suggestions of sports entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19. Attendees included Oh Jeong-seok, CEO of Ssaka; Lee Won-il, Director of Natso; Kim Dong-hoon, Manager of Dong-A Sports; Lim Woo-taek, CEO of Brion Sports; Lee Seong-hwan, CEO of Sema Sports Marketing; Lee Tae-ho, CEO of All That Maker; Chae Seung-mok, Director of QMIT; and Jo Seok-yoon, Vice President of Fit.
