[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Regarding the case in which students filed a complaint claiming they were disadvantaged because the exam end bell rang early at a CSAT test site last year, the police have cleared Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye and the exam supervisors of any charges.

On the 23rd, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they decided to dismiss charges against Minister Yoo, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon, and seven exam supervisors who were accused of neglect of duty. The police plan to submit the non-prosecution decision to the prosecution on the 24th.

During the fourth period of the CSAT held last December at Deokwon Girls' High School, the end bell for the first elective subject of the inquiry section rang about 2 to 3 minutes early. The supervisors collected the exam papers, realized the error, redistributed the papers, and allowed the students to continue solving the problems.

Students and parents claimed that the sudden situation caused confusion and that they were disadvantaged in the exam, filing complaints against Minister Yoo and the exam supervisors.

However, the police judged that Minister Yoo, Superintendent Cho, and three exam supervisors, a total of five people, were not responsible parties for the error in the complaint.

Additionally, the teacher responsible for the bell broadcasting settings and the principal of Deokwon Girls' High School were cleared of charges due to lack of clear evidence indicating intentional neglect of duty.
