Creating Spaces Where Young Children Can Naturally Embrace Reading Like Play
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] Il룸, a lifestyle furniture brand under the Persys Group, announced the launch of the ‘EdiKids Reading House,’ a hideout that helps young children become familiar with books.
Il룸 planned this series reflecting the tendency of young children who enjoy decorating and playing in their own space.
The EdiKids Reading House not only fulfills the dream of a cozy space that children imagine but also makes reading feel easy and fun like play, fostering children’s imagination and reading habits. The EdiKids Reading House is available in two types: the ‘sofa type,’ which allows sitting inside a house-shaped furniture, and the ‘corner type,’ which utilizes corner spaces.
The Il룸 EdiKids Reading House ‘sofa type’ features a soft and comfortable seat with a house-shaped design that creates a cozy space. When children sit inside the reading house, they can enjoy the feeling of being inside a small house and read books playfully and enjoyably.
It is sized large enough for adults to sit comfortably, allowing parents and children to sit side by side and spend time reading together. The roof-shaped upper part of the furniture includes a touch LED light, creating an even cozier atmosphere that helps children focus on the stories in the books. When placed together with the ‘EdiKids’ bookshelf, which can store children’s favorite books and toys, it completes a space just for children where they can enjoy both reading and playing.
The EdiKids Reading House ‘corner type’ utilizes corner spaces to create a fun corner house just for children. The entrance of the reading house, located in the corner space between two EdiKids storage units, features a curtain, allowing the space behind the curtain to be decorated as a private area just for children.
Children can freely move between the secret space behind the curtain and the open space in front of the storage units to read and play. Especially for children who have not yet developed a reading habit, it allows them to engage with books like play in an interesting hideout instead of at a desk and chair. All corners are rounded to enhance safety, and the curtain colors can be chosen from gray, navy, and pink.
An Il룸 representative said, “This product was planned considering both the wishes of mothers who hope that important childhood reading habits for improving children’s thinking and creativity are properly established during early childhood, and the play styles that children enjoy.”
