Performance Testing by International Certification Bodies Intertek, KTR, and World Kimchi Research Institute
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Electronics announced on the 23rd that its Dios dishwasher with the TrueSteam function, which boils water to 100 degrees Celsius, has been proven to eliminate the highest number of bacteria and viruses in Korea, totaling 20 types.
According to recent tests conducted by LG Electronics in collaboration with internationally accredited testing organizations such as Intertek, the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), and the World Kimchi Research Institute, using the product's standard course with the high-temperature sterilization and steam options, the LG steam dishwasher was found to remove 99.999% of a total of 20 types of bacteria and viruses.
Previously, the LG steam dishwasher demonstrated the ability to eliminate 99.999% of 12 types of food poisoning-causing bacteria and viruses, including six representative pathogens (based on the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency website) such as Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Salmonella, Norovirus, Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (O157:H7), and Clostridium perfringens. This time, additional test results confirmed the removal of 99.999% of eight types of pathogenic bacteria and viruses that can cause bacterial diseases such as pneumonia and dysentery, as well as various infections.
LG Electronics also presented results from a joint study with Professor Lee Ji-hyun’s Sensory Science Laboratory at Pusan National University, showing that the cleaning power of the steam dishwasher is approximately 26% superior to hand dishwashing. Yoon Kyung-seok, Vice President and Head of the Kitchen Appliance Division at LG Electronics H&A Business Division, stated, "We will ensure that more customers can experience the differentiated cleanliness and convenience of the LG steam dishwasher."
