[Asia Economy, reporter Park Jongil] On February 22, Dongjak District (headed by Mayor Lee Changwoo) participated in the "Thank You, Essential Workers" campaign to show support for essential workers.

This campaign is being conducted as a relay to express sincere gratitude to workers in fields such as healthcare, care services, welfare, safety, environmental sanitation, and transportation, who must perform face-to-face duties due to the nature of their jobs despite the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Participants who are nominated share a photo on social media with a placard containing a message of thanks and support, along with hashtags, and then nominate three additional participants.

Lee Changwoo, Mayor of Dongjak District, was nominated by Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, to join this challenge. He took a certification photo holding a handwritten placard reading "Thank You, Essential Workers," and shared it on social media with hashtags such as #EssentialWorkers #ThankYou #IfOnlyForADay #SpecialRespectForSpecialContributions #TogetherWithEssentialWorkers #essential_worker #key_worker.

Mayor Lee stated, "Although we have endured difficult times due to the spread of COVID-19, everyone has been able to overcome the crisis thanks to the dedication of essential workers. I am deeply grateful for the devotion and hard work of essential workers who support our society even as 'social distancing' has become a part of daily life. I will do my utmost to ensure that improvements are made to the working environment and conditions as soon as possible, so that essential workers can work more safely and stably."

Meanwhile, Mayor Lee Changwoo recommended Jeon Gapbong, Chair of Dongjak District Council; Kim Gilyeon, Chair of Dongjak Cultural Foundation; and Park Eunha, CEO of Elderly Happiness Corporation, as the next participants in the challenge.
