[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] As Prince Harry and his wife have completely severed ties with the royal family, his elder brother, Prince William, is reportedly hoping for a personal reconciliation with his younger brother.

On the 21st (local time), the British daily The Telegraph cited a source from the British royal family, reporting that "Prince William wants to focus solely on 'purely family matters' to restore his relationship with Prince Harry."

Another royal source said, "Now that everything has been settled, there is hope that the two brothers can move forward."

Another insider said, "The brothers must have found great joy in sharing everything in their lives so far," adding, "Now they will miss that."

The British royal family officially announced on the 19th that "Prince Harry and his wife have informed the Queen that they will not return as 'working members of the royal family,'" and that "support for Prince Harry will be withdrawn."

In response, Prince Harry and his wife stated through a spokesperson that although they no longer hold official titles, they intend to continue their charitable activities in the UK and worldwide.

Since declaring independence in January last year, Prince Harry and his wife have been undergoing the process of severing ties with the royal family.

On the 20th, Prince Charles, father of Prince William and Prince Harry, visited Prince Philip, the Queen Elizabeth II’s husband and their father, who is receiving treatment at Edward VII Hospital, to update him on recent developments.

Meanwhile, attention is focused on the interview between the famous broadcaster Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and his wife, scheduled to be broadcast nationwide in the United States on the 7th of next month.

Some speculate that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will mention the accumulated conflicts between the brothers over recent years.

However, the media also reports predictions that she is unlikely to be foolish enough to speak negatively about Queen Elizabeth II or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Harry and his wife are reported to have conducted the interview last week at their residence in California, USA.

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace, which handles royal affairs, announced on the same day that Prince William has hired Jean-Christophe Gray, former spokesperson for ex-Prime Minister David Cameron, as his personal secretary. Gray is a former financial official who oversaw spending policies in the UK government.
