Promotion for Citizen Participation at Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center on the 23rd at 2 PM
Appointment of 30 Individual Media Creators, Support for Expo Attraction Promotion Video Production
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City (Acting Mayor Lee Byung-jin) will hold the launch ceremony for the ‘2030 (20dae 30in) ExTuber’ at 2 p.m. on the 23rd in the conference room of the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center.
Thirty ‘ExTubers,’ the promotional team for the 2030 World Expo, will be appointed and begin full-scale promotional activities.
The launch ceremony will proceed in the order of ▲appointment certificates and badges presentation ▲introduction of the World Expo ▲explanation of the World Expo operation plan.
With support from Busan Port Authority and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ Busan Port North Port Integrated Development Promotion Team, a program is also prepared to tour the 2030 Busan World Expo site on board (around Busan Port) and visit the North Port promotional center.
The ‘2030 (20dae 30in) ExTuber’ is a promotional team composed of 30 individual media creators in their 20s, meaning they will actively promote the Expo attraction through platforms like YouTube.
Through creative and innovative promotional content by individual media creators, who are currently leading the media trend, they plan to accelerate the nationwide boom-up before the World Expo hosting application this year.
Busan City and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency will finally select 30 creators whose abilities have been verified, including winners of content contests.
The selected creators will each produce one Expo attraction promotional video. They will also engage in activities such as sharing on social networking services (SNS) and spreading content.
To this end, production costs will be supported per person, and five outstanding ExTubers will receive additional benefits considering creativity and professionalism of their content. The activity period is from February, when they are officially appointed as the promotional team at the launch ceremony, until December this year.
The produced videos will be posted on Busan City’s official SNS, the central hosting planning team, and the pan-citizen hosting committee websites. Alongside offline promotion, they will also be promoted through outdoor electronic billboards, city bus information systems, and TVs at subway platforms.
Acting Mayor Lee Byung-jin of Busan said, “We will put young YouTubers in their 20s, who will be the main players when the 2030 Expo is held, at the forefront to raise nationwide enthusiasm for the World Expo hosting,” and added, “We will support Busan’s excellent individual media talents so that they do not move to other regions but can fully demonstrate their capabilities in Busan.”
The individual media industry has been promoted since 2017 through creator support projects in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daegu, Busan, and other areas. Busan City planned this project to strengthen the capabilities of local creators and expand the local individual media content industry, as multi-channel network (MCN) operators are concentrated in Seoul and the metropolitan area, raising concerns about the outflow of creators to other regions.
