Songpa-gu Operates 'Untact Songpa Exploration Alsongdalsong' Program Combining Jogging and Trash Pickup... Plogging Around Songpa Landmarks Promotes Health and Environment, Volunteer Hours Recognized
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is operating 'Untact Songpa Exploration AlSongDalSong,' a plogging activity program that explores Songpa’s attractions.
The district planned the plogging program to provide opportunities for volunteer work and physical fitness activities to teenagers who have been spending more time indoors due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Plogging is a new sport that originated in Northern Europe, combining jogging with picking up litter.
'Untact Songpa Exploration AlSongDalSong,' operated by the Songpa Jamsil Youth Center, means 'Let’s run and explore Songpa’s attractions that are good to know.' The program allows participants to enjoy local attractions such as the Songpa Dulle-gil Trail and Seokchon Lake Park while engaging in environmental cleanup through plogging.
Any youth aged 14 to 24 residing in Songpa-gu can participate, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 100 people through the Jamsil Youth Center website until February 27.
Participants select their preferred activity date when applying in advance, receive preliminary education about the program through online videos, and then begin the program.
Following the guidance, participants jog in designated local attractions while performing environmental cleanup activities, and volunteer hours will be awarded accordingly.
For more details, visit the Songpa Jamsil Youth Center website for information and registration.
Starting in March, the district plans to expand the exploration areas to include various Songpa attractions such as Seokchon Lake, Songpa Dulle-gil Trail, and Olympic Park, broadening the program.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I hope this plogging program will be a great opportunity for teenagers struggling with activity restrictions due to COVID-19 to freely explore local attractions while taking care of their health and the environment at the same time. We will continue to actively develop and promote various programs so that young people can grow up happily and healthily.”
