[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] As the wildfire that broke out on the afternoon of the 21st in Andong and Yecheon, Gyeongbuk Province, spread, the forestry and fire authorities issued response levels 2 and 1 respectively and began firefighting efforts.
At around 3:20 PM that day, a fire started on a mountain in Mangcheon-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong City, spreading to the surrounding area.
The forestry and fire authorities are using helicopters and fire trucks to extinguish the fire, but as the wildfire spread to the surrounding area, response level 2 was issued at 5:48 PM.
Accordingly, fire authorities from Gyeongnam, Daegu, Ulsan, Changwon, Chungnam, Daejeon, and Busan decided to deploy 5% of their wildfire firefighting personnel.
Andong City has instructed residents of Jungpyeong-ri, Imdong-myeon to evacuate to Sugok-ri and Gocheon-ri, and is controlling National Road No. 34 around Sugokgyo near the Imdong-myeon office.
The city stated, "Users of National Road No. 34 should detour via the expressway or other roads."
At around 4:12 PM, a fire broke out on a mountain in Jeunggeori, Gamcheon-myeon, Yecheon County.
The forestry and fire authorities deployed 19 fire trucks and 3 helicopters and issued response level 1.
As the wildfire is spreading with the wind, Yecheon County has instructed nearby residents to evacuate.
