Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room and Jayang 4-dong Youth Counseling Welfare Center Established... Created as a Youth Healing Space Equipped with Meeting Areas, Board Games, and Books
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has created a youth healing space called ‘Cheongsonyeon Ajite’ by utilizing idle spaces in the area, where teenagers can engage in self-directed personal development as well as rest, play, and communicate.
‘Cheongsonyeon Ajite’ was established by renovating and improving two locations: the reading room of the Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room and the program room of the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center on the 3rd floor of the Jayang Healing Public Center in Jayang 4-dong. It was selected as a Seoul city public project, with 185 million KRW of city funds invested.
The first branch of Cheongsonyeon Ajite, located inside the Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room, spans 56.1㎡ and was designed reflecting the opinions of youth, featuring meeting spaces for small group activities, resting areas for leisure activities, and PC zones.
The existing youth reading room continues to operate, but programs that generate loud noise (such as coin karaoke) have been excluded, and the space has been arranged for quiet relaxation with board games and books.
The second branch, located inside the Jayang 4-dong Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, covers 37.9㎡ and is equipped with PlayStation, board games, and books. It also offers youth counseling and welfare support, so high usage is expected.
Currently, Cheongsonyeon Ajite is not operating due to social distancing level 2, but it will open immediately once the distancing measures are eased.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I am very pleased to be able to create Cheongsonyeon Ajite for the youth, who are the future of Gwangjin-gu,” and added, “I hope the youth using Cheongsonyeon Ajite will have enjoyable times communicating and growing with friends, taking a break from their studies.”
