[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A ordinance to prevent the 'gapjil' abuse suffered by security guards in apartment complexes in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City has been proposed.

On the 19th, according to the Seo-gu Council of Gwangju, the 'Ordinance on the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights of Workers such as Security Guards in Apartment Complexes in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City,' which was primarily proposed by Councilor Jeong Wooseok, was approved at the 293rd extraordinary session held that day.

This ordinance was prepared to prevent human rights violations such as verbal abuse and assault against socially vulnerable security guards in apartment complexes and to create a healthy local community where their stable lives and human rights are respected.

The ordinance includes discovering policies for the protection and promotion of security guards' human rights, providing basic facilities for security guards, and providing information on legal support in case of physical and mental harm.

Councilor Jeong Wooseok said, "Cases of unfair human rights violations against socially vulnerable security guards in apartment complexes are occurring, so I proposed this ordinance to establish a system to prevent them," and added, "We will continue to strive to create a healthy local community where apartment complex management entities and residents coexist and live together."
