[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, participated in the "Thank You, Essential Workers" challenge on the 19th at his office in the district office.
This challenge is a campaign to encourage and support essential workers in fields such as medical care, health, caregiving, transportation, logistics, and cleaning, who risk their safety to perform face-to-face duties to maintain public safety and social functions amid the COVID-19 situation.
Mayor Roh said, "Through this campaign, I hope that essential workers, who are valuable members of our society, will receive more respect and appropriate treatment," adding, "The district office will also do its best to be a reliable supporter so that essential workers can work stably in a safer environment."
Mayor Roh, nominated by Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, continued the challenge and nominated the next participants: National Assembly member Jin Seong-jun, Jeongeup Mayor Yoo Jin-seop, Goesan County Governor Lee Cha-young, and Haman County Governor Jo Geun-je.
Meanwhile, last August, the district opened the "Gangseo Rest Shelter" at 745-3 Magok-dong (near Exit 1 of Magok Station) to help improve the working conditions of essential workers in the delivery and courier industry.
