"Graduation Gown Delivery" Dongseo University Offers Delivery Service for Online Graduation Ceremony

Graduation Caps and Gowns Delivered to Homes... Online Revives University Graduation Ceremony Craze

Live Graduation Ceremony Held Online on the 19th

"Graduation Gown Delivery" Dongseo University Offers Delivery Service for Online Graduation Ceremony Dongseo University has launched a service to deliver graduation ceremony supplies, including academic gowns, to each student's home.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Why did the university start delivering graduation gowns to students' homes?

Due to COVID-19 prevention measures, universities are unable to hold offline graduation ceremonies. Dongseo University is attracting attention by delivering graduation caps, gowns, and diplomas to students' homes for their once-in-a-lifetime graduation ceremony.

On the 19th at 11 a.m., Dongseo University will hold the 26th degree conferment ceremony in an open format at Sohyang Art Hall, allowing graduates, current students, and families to participate online.

Originally, the ceremony was planned to accommodate about 100 people on a first-come, first-served basis, but with over 580 applicants (including graduate students), the number was expanded to 300 attendees.

In particular, among the offline graduates attending, the first 100 people received gifticons, and all attendees were sent their gowns and diplomas via courier, enabling everyone to wear their graduation attire and participate online despite the non-face-to-face format.

This phenomenon, where non-face-to-face participation has increased compared to traditional in-person ceremonies, encourages graduates who previously only took photos with family but did not fully attend the event to focus entirely on the degree conferment ceremony.

The university stated that this would be a good opportunity to deeply reflect on the meaning of graduation during the COVID-19 era.

Jang Je-guk, President of Dongseo University, said in his graduation address, “I sincerely congratulate all graduates who hold their diplomas of honor today. I also extend congratulations and thanks to the parents who supported them and the professors who taught them devotedly.”

To the graduates leaving the familiar campus, he said, “I hope you embrace courage and hope that do not yield to any hardship, set concrete goals, and make sincere efforts. I earnestly hope you will go out into society and actively uphold the honor of Dongseo University.”
