[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Jumi Lee] The real appearance of a social media star with about 800,000 followers in China has been revealed, causing a sensation.
According to Malaysian media World of Buzz and others, the real image of Mr. A, who gained great popularity on the video platform 'TikTok,' has spread on social networking services (SNS), attracting attention.
Mr. A was said to have attracted the interest of Chinese netizens with his attractive appearance, including fair skin and large pupils. Many netizens reportedly called Mr. A the 'Goddess of TikTok' and eagerly awaited updates on his SNS.
However, it was revealed that Mr. A's real appearance is very different from the images posted on SNS.
Friends who were angry after fighting with Mr. A revealed unedited photos on SNS.
Mr. A's friends posted photos of Mr. A as he usually appears, exposing that he distorted the photos using 'filters' and warned, "Don't be fooled, it's all fake."
A netizen claiming to be Mr. A's boyfriend said, "Online, Mr. A said he was 165cm tall and weighed 40kg, but when I met him in person, he looked about 155cm tall and weighed over 60kg," adding, "Unlike his SNS appearance, he always wears XL-sized clothes."
In addition to the photos, the fact that a fake profile was created further fueled fans' anger. Mr. A set his profile age to be 7 years younger than his actual age.
Shocked by Mr. A's true appearance, his followers expressed disappointment, saying, "I thought some 'editing' with image software was done, but I didn't expect it to be at the level of 'distortion.'" They then left comments saying "I was deceived" and unfollowed Mr. A's account.
