[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Truewin announced on the 18th that it has signed a strategic business agreement with Hanwha Systems for thermal imaging modules and product business. Through this business agreement, Truewin will exclusively produce Hanwha Systems' self-developed intelligent thermal imaging engine module Quantum Red under an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) arrangement. The company plans to supply the initial batch next month.
Hanwha Systems' Quantum Red is a product developed to enter the global civilian market based on over 40 years of electronic optical technology and experience accumulated in the defense industry. It is the world's second multipurpose thermal imaging engine module that integrates infrared image signal processing technology with software installed on a GPU-equipped System On Chip.
Truewin and Hanwha Systems plan to produce various products utilizing Quantum Red. Based on the products and technological capabilities held by both companies, they will jointly conduct research on thermal imaging cameras for autonomous vehicles and night vision. They also plan to develop small and low-cost intelligent thermal imaging engine modules that precisely measure the temperature of humans or objects at close range.
Truewin achieved sales of 37.7 billion KRW in 2020. Through continuous commercialization strategies and profitability improvements, both operating profit and net profit turned positive. Growth in the electric vehicle market is expected to boost the company's existing sensor component business. In December last year, Truewin signed a supply contract for electric vehicle sensors BPS (Brake Pedal Sensor) with Nio, known as the Chinese version of Tesla.
A Truewin representative said, "Being selected as the exclusive manufacturer of Hanwha Systems' first civilian business product, which embodies their electronic optical technology, is a recognition of Truewin's technological capabilities. Based on Truewin's sensor technology and experience in the automotive electronics business, we plan to expand our cooperative relationship with Hanwha Systems."
