Gwangju Nam-gu Introduces Electronic Issuance System for Construction Machinery Licenses

Gwangju Nam-gu Introduces Electronic Issuance System for Construction Machinery Licenses

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 18th that it will officially operate an electronic issuance system from next month to shorten the time required for issuing licenses and provide convenience, following the reinstatement of the regular aptitude test system for construction machinery operator licenses due to the revision of the Construction Machinery Management Act.

The reason for introducing the electronic issuance system for construction machinery licenses is that the existing paper-coated licenses were vulnerable to moisture and contaminants, resulting in weak durability, and there were security concerns due to the possibility of forgery.

In contrast, the electronic license uses PVC material with strong durability against moisture and contaminants, and since it uses a method of printing ink on a plastic card, security stability can be further enhanced.

Also, while the existing licenses took at least 10 minutes or more to issue, it has been confirmed that electronic licenses can be issued within 5 minutes.

Nam-gu plans to install the electronic issuance system for construction machinery licenses in the Traffic Administration Department office in Songam-dong by the end of this month and start providing the service from next month.
