[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has reclaimed the title of the world's richest person.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as of the 16th (local time), Bezos's net worth was estimated at $191 billion (approximately 211.6584 trillion KRW), pushing Elon Musk, CEO of electric car company Tesla, to second place. Musk's net worth was also estimated at $191 billion.
The ranking reversed as Tesla's stock price fell by 2.44% that day. With Tesla's stock decline, Musk's net worth decreased by $4.58 billion in a single day, while Bezos's net worth only dropped by $372 million. Amazon's stock price fell by 0.27% that day.
Bezos had held the top spot for over three years since October 2017. Last year, Tesla's stock price surged, rapidly increasing Musk's net worth, and on January 7 of this year, Musk overtook Bezos to become the world's richest person.
However, with Tesla's stock price recently undergoing a correction, Bezos regained the top position after just over a month. Tesla's stock price, which was over $900 last month, has now fallen below $800.
In the Forbes ranking, which uses a slightly different calculation method from Bloomberg, Bezos lost the top spot to Musk on the 8th of last month but regained it four days later on the 11th.
