The Forbes Travel Guide is a globally prestigious evaluation organization that rates hotels, restaurants, and spas. Based on nearly 900 strict and objective evaluation criteria, a secret evaluation team visits hotels worldwide every year to assess facilities and services, then announces ratings divided into 5-star, 4-star, and recommended hotels.
Korea was first included in the evaluation countries in 2017, and Seoul Shilla Hotel was upgraded from a 4-star hotel in 2018 to a 5-star hotel in 2019. It has been selected as a 5-star hotel for three consecutive years through this year, recognized as one of the 283 5-star hotels worldwide.
Opened in 1979, Seoul Shilla Hotel has built its reputation as Korea's representative hotel over 42 years by successfully hosting global events such as the Seoul Olympic Headquarters Hotel, IOC Seoul General Assembly, FIFA official VIP hotel, and the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit. It ranks at the top in various hotel operation competitiveness indicators such as room occupancy rate and average spending per guest. Its Korean restaurant 'La Yeon' is the only hotel restaurant in Korea to be selected for La Liste Top 150 and awarded 3 Michelin stars.
Additionally, it has been recognized as a world-class hotel by renowned global hotel rating guides such as Zagat, Travel & Leisure, and Conde Nast Traveler.
