"Apply Online Before Renewing Your Driver's License"... Visit Time Reservation Also Available Road Traffic Authority Safe Driving Integrated Civil Service Website.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] On the 16th, the Korea Road Traffic Authority actively encouraged the use of the 'Online Application for Driver's License Issuance' and 'Visit Time Reservation Service' before visiting the driver's license examination centers to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to disperse waiting times for visitors.

According to the Authority, all driver's license examination centers nationwide are currently limiting the number of people waiting inside the buildings to ensure proper social distancing in accordance with government quarantine management guidelines. As a result, visitors who come without prior reservations for driver's license aptitude tests or renewals may experience significant inconvenience, such as waiting outside the building for extended periods.

To alleviate these inconveniences, the Authority operates the online driver's license issuance application service and visit time reservation service on the integrated civil service website (www.safedriving.or.kr).

By using the online application service for driver's license issuance, applicants can complete procedures in advance for Class 1 regular aptitude tests, Class 2 license renewals, license reissuance, and international driver's license issuance, significantly reducing the time required during their visit. After applying online, visitors can receive their license upon identity verification at the examination center.

Additionally, through prior reservation, visitors can set the date and time for their visit for Class 1 regular aptitude tests, Class 2 license renewals, and license reissuance. Visiting at the reserved time allows them to complete necessary tasks without waiting.

This service is available at 27 driver's license examination centers nationwide, and an alert service that sends the application results via text message is also provided. A representative from the Authority stated, “We hope that people will utilize the 'Online Application for Driver's License Issuance' and 'Visit Time Reservation Service' before visiting the examination centers as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to alleviate the inconvenience of long waiting times.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure the convenience of visitors and prevent COVID-19.”
